Holy Mega-Pixels – Batman

It looks like those that found Phase One’s 60-megapixel P65+ camera a bit too much for them but Hasselblad’s 50-megapixel H3DII-50 somehow lacking may now finally have the answer they’ve been looking for, as Leaf has just introduced its new 56-megapixel AFi 10 camera system

Leasing hurts automakers – Apparently

Well that makes me want to do it more.  Since you have a smaller payment and lower down payment.

Leases hurting luxury automakers, BMW wants you to buy.

The Detroit 3 aren’t the only automakers feeling the hurt from lease vehicles coming back worth much less than expected. Leases account for 60% of BMW’s sales in the U.S. compared to just 20% of sales in the industry as a whole. As such, BMW will begin offering incentives like never before to encourage customers to buy a vehicle instead and reduce the number of leases it has on the books.

$3 Billion Proposed Wind Farm to Stretch From Wyoming to Vegas

Denver billionaire investor Philip Anschutz is plugging into the red-hot renewable-energy field, announcing plans to develop multibillion-dollar wind-farm and transmission-line projects.

The Anschutz Corp. said Tuesday it has acquired the rights to a proposed $3 billion, 3,000-megawatt transmission project that will run from Wyoming to Southern California, Las Vegas and Phoenix. The 900-mile project will carry power from a 2,000-megawatt wind farm Anschutz is developing in Carbon County in south-central Wyoming.

One megawatt of wind generation can power 300 homes.

New MIT Energy Storage Invention Could Revolutionize Solar Power

Inspired by the photosynthesis performed by plants, Nocera and Matthew Kanan, a postdoctoral fellow in Nocera’s lab, have developed an unprecedented process that will allow the sun’s energy to be used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen gases. Later, the oxygen and hydrogen may be recombined inside a fuel cell, creating carbon-free electricity to power your house or your electric car, day or night.

Siberian Russians marvel at solar eclipse

MOSCOW (AP) — An enormous swath of western Siberia was submerged in darkness Friday afternoon as the moon completely blocked the sun, enrapturing huge crowds of Russians and foreign tourists.

The peak of the eclipse occurred in Novosibirsk, Russia’s third-largest city.

There, forecasts of cloudy skies proved wrong, and tens of thousands of people who had flocked to the center of town were able to observe the rare total eclipse of the sun — which lasted two minutes, 23 seconds — in its full beauty.

Traffic stopped. Crowds wearing protective eye wear cheered and whistled as the moon covered the sun, the wind died and day became night.

Giant lasrer-cut artwork.

Belgian artist Wim Delvoye takes laser-cutting to a new scale with his sculptures of construction vehicles highly detailed in ornate patterns referencing the industrial revolution, gothic cathedrals, victorian architecture and to a degree steampunk culture.
